Aaron Ramsdale loves winding up Leicester fans and Piers Morgan but comments on Arsenal’s targets, England hopes and support for David Brooks shows huge depth to goalkeeper’s character

Image
https://ift.tt/3q96AIr We saw many sides to Aaron Ramsdale at the weekend. The goalkeeper had his best match in an Arsenal shirt as his heroics helped his side to a useful 2-0 win at Leicester. Getty It was a great team performance by Arsenal but Ramsdale was the star of the show Leicester were lacklustre for large parts of the match but take nothing away from Ramsdale’s excellent performance which saw him make save after save. One particularly caught the eye as he kept out James Maddison’s curling free-kick which appeared destined for the net – a stop labelled the best save the great Peter Schmeichel has seen in years. This didn’t deter the Foxes faithful from jeering in an attempt to psyche Ramsdale out but footage showed him give it right back to the ‘you’re s***, ahhhh!” chants after taking a free kick from inside his own box. It was labelled ‘Jamie Vardy-esc’ by Arsenal legend Ian Wright as fans and pundits came together in their appreciation of Ramsdale’s feisty beh...

Harry Kane warned his Tottenham legacy ‘will not be the same’ for the ‘way he is treating these fans’

Image
https://ift.tt/3pS4ZpY Gabby Agbonlahor insists Harry Kane’s legacy ‘is not going to be the same’ at Tottenham Hotspur for how he has treated the fans. The England captain was booed by a section of Spurs fans as Manchester United cruised to a 3-0 victory in north London . Getty It was an evening to forget for Kane in a rather dismal season Kane has just one Premier League goal this season and never looked like adding to his measly tally against a United side who shipped five last week at home to Liverpool. Dean Ashton said the 28-year-old looked ‘miles off it’ and ‘disinterested’ at times in the fame as the dissonance rang through Spurs’ vast stadium. During the summer, Kane was linked with a lucrative move to Premier League champions Manchester City and some have questioned if the breakdown of the move is linked to his stuttering form. And despite Spurs’ poor performances across the season, Agbonlahor insists the trend starts with talisman Kane. Getty Despite Harr...

West Ham romp to victory against Aston Villa to move clear of Manchester United in Champions League places as exceptional away record continues

Image
https://ift.tt/2ZAQWKr West Ham United blew ten-man Aston Villa away at Villa Park thanks to a 4-1 scoreline as they continued their remarkable run away from home. Ollie Watkins had cancelled out Ben Johnson’s rasping left footed drive, but Villa failed to close down Declan Rice shortly after and his long range effort clattered in off the post, before Pablo Fornals and Jarrod Bowen finished off a spirited fightback from the hosts. Getty West Ham equalled their club record of five away wins in a row For a side lacking in confidence, it was perhaps the worst possible start for Villa as Johnson rampaged forward from right-back and drove a left-footed shot into the far corner from the edge of the box. It was the perfect start for Moyes in his 999 th game as a manager, although any ideas of an easy afternoon were quickly dispelled. Good work from John McGinn on the right released Emi Buendia and his cut back from the byline was confidently tucked home by Watkins to level the ga...

Jadon Sancho will think ‘what the hell am I doing here?’, says Manchester United legend Gary Neville, who warns star could end up ‘exactly the same’ as Donny van de Beek

Image
https://ift.tt/3btkLzk If he’s not careful, Jadon Sancho will end up ‘exactly the same’ as Manchester United teammate Donny van de Beek. This is the verdict of club legend Gary Neville, who’s worried about the £74million man’s situation. GETTY Sancho has no goals or assists in 11 matches for Man United Sancho has had a difficult start to life at Old Trafford and has played no part in their last two outings. Man United’s 3-0 win over Tottenham saw Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revert to a 3-5-2 system with Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani playing up front together. Neville believes Sancho’s struggles haven’t been due to a lack of effort. However, he’s worried the England international will end up like Van de Beek, who’s desperately lacked game time since joining in the summer of 2020. Speaking about Sancho after the win at Spurs, Neville said: “I can’t help but think about Van de Beek . Rex Sancho and Van de Beek may bond but not in the way they would like “Who’s put ...

Gabby Agbonlahor ‘very worried’ Newcastle will need to pull off ‘Great Escape’ and warns January transfers could be difficult – despite new Saudi backers

Image
https://ift.tt/3mx3PhE Gabby Agbonlahor insists he is ‘very worried’ Newcastle will get embroiled in a relegation battle and struggle to find new recruits in January. The Magpies were beaten 3-0 by Chelsea at St James’ Park as the runaway Premier League leaders strenghthened their position at the top. Getty It was a difficult afternoon for the Magpies and Agbonlahor fears they will have more this season Defeat for manager-less Newcastle saw them equal their longest winless run at the beginning of a top-flight season of 10 games, which was set in 1898 and happened again in 2018. It was not the way interim-boss Graeme Jones wanted to hand over the reins, with Newcastle expected to appoint a permanent replacement for Steve Bruce before next week’s trip to Brighton. Jones’ side made life difficult for Thomas Tuchel’s European champions, but they ran out of gas as Chelsea extended their unbeaten league run on the road this season to five matches. Image
https://ift.tt/3BqWGUd Aaron Ramsdale became an instant Arsenal hero on Saturday with an unbelievable performance in their 2-0 victory at Leicester. The Gunners stretched their unbeaten run to nine games thanks to goals from Gabriel and Emile Smith Rowe – but this was all about their new goalkeeper. Getty The home crowd were stunned into silence by Ramsdale’s wonder save Getty It seemed impossible to save Having already removed doubts since his £30million move from Sheffield United, Ramsdale blew everyone’s mind with an outrageous save from a James Maddison free-kick in the first-half. That would’ve been enough to earn him man-of-the-match, but Ramsdale produced a string of more fine saves in the second-half to preserve his clean sheet as Leicester piled on the pressure. However, the moment that will endear Ramsdale most to football fans everywhere came as the Englishman punted a routine goal-kick up field. As the Leicester fans chanted, ‘you’re s***, ahhhh’, Rams...

Image
https://ift.tt/3q8FaT1 Gabby Agbonlahor insists Manchester United have delayed the inevitable for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, despite a win against a ‘bang average’ Tottenham side. Solskjaer is battling for his job after last weekend’s 5-0 humiliation by Liverpool, but as has been the case so often during his reign at United, his team delivered a result when he needed it the most. Getty Solskjaer celebrates after his United players trounced Spurs 3-0 A brilliant goal by Cristiano Ronaldo – his 11th against Tottenham, the most of any English opponent – and second-half strikes from Edinson Cavani and Marcus Rashford saw United coast to a 3-0 win in north London and gave the Norwegian a bit of breathing space. He will not be out of the woods just yet, though, with a Champions League trip to Atalanta and the Manchester derby to come in the next week. Although the Norwegian may well have eased pressure on himself, Agbonlahor still fears the scythe is still looming ominously above the...
