Wolves star Raul Jimenez recovering in hospital after sickening collision with David Luiz – who is later withdrawn – as Nuno Santo’s men beat Arsenal
Wolves star Raul Jimenez is conscious and responding to treatment in hospital after a sickening clash of heads with Arsenal defender David Luiz during Sunday’s Premier League clash – which ended 2-1 in the visitors’ favour.
The incident, which occurred in the opening five minutes of the Emirates encounter, saw Luiz inadvertently connect with Jimenez’s head from a Willian corner.

Both players were attended to by medical staff during a 10-minute stoppage. Luiz was able to carry on, however, Jimenez was stretchered off and replaced by Fabio Silva, Wolves’ £35.6million club record signing.
Subsequently, the Mexico striker was taken to hospital, where he continues to receive treatment.
Luiz’s head was bandaged up, but blood seeped through it as the match continued.
It could raise questions over the decision to let the 33-year-old play on.

But his night did end prematurely when Rob Holding came on for him at half-time as the Arsenal medical staff decided the Brazilian could not continue.
Wolves coped well without Jimenez as Pedro Neto opened the scoring in the 27th minute.
However, Arsenal hit back instantly as Gabriel headed in Willian’s cross just three minutes later to get the hosts back on level terms.
Wolves kept on pushing, though, and retook the lead thanks to Daniel Podence, who took advantage of a spilled Neto shot before the break.
The hosts were unable to get a real foothold in the game after the interval, as Mikel Arteta’s men fell to a third home league defeat of the 2020/21 campaign already.
The result saw Wolves pick up a first league victory at Arsenal in 41 years, and end their two-game winless streak.
