Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale pulled off one of the all-time great Premier League saves in his side’s 2-0 win over Leicester, but don’t take it from us.

Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel, whose son Kasper was in goal at the other end, described it as the ‘best save he’s seen in years’.

With the Gunners two goals up at the King Power, Ramsdale somehow managed to tip James Maddison’s free-kick onto the crossbar just before half-time.

It was so destined for the net that Foxes striker Jamie Vardy had already started celebrating.

The England goalkeeper arrived with big question marks following his £30million transfer from Sheffield United, but it’s safe to say he’s won the Arsenal fans over.

And even talkSPORT pundit Trevor Sinclair was forced to eat his words after Ramsdale’s heroics on Saturday.

“You’re not going to see many better saves than that this season.

“It was a wonderful free kick from James Maddison, and it deserved to go in, but what a save, and then he follows it up with a great second save on the line, too.

“Just to think, I didn’t think he was that good…

“The happiest man in the stadium will be Ben White – it was sloppy, ill-disciplined play from him to concede the free-kick.

“The Unhappiest? Bernd Leno, sitting on the bench watching that!”

However, even the Gunners No. 2 couldn’t help but smile when watching the save back.

Sinclair added: “That was one of the best saves I’ve seen for a long time.

“I was one of those querying whether Ramsdale was good enough for a team like Arsenal, but he’s proven me wrong for sure.”

Mikel Arteta also heaped praise on the goalkeeper after the game as he spoke to talkSPORT.

“He’s playing really well and showing a lot of character and real moments of quality,” the Spaniard said of Ramsdale, who won man-of-the-match for his display.

“Today, he saved us in two or three moments in the game when we need him but it’s neccessary if you want to win games consecutively.

“There are many different ways to win football matches but individually you need big performances for sure.”
