Antonio Conte’s time at Tottenham has come to an end and so has his fractious relationship with his players.

Alongside results and perceived negative performances, it was his outburst against his stars following the 3-3 draw with Southampton that proved to be the final straw in his Spurs reign.

As a result, the north London side are looking for a new boss and no doubt, conducting an inquest into what went wrong under the Italian.

With results and performances since not up to the required level by fans and the board, Conte had called an emergency meeting at the end of January to get to the bottom of their wretched form.

Inviting every player along, the Italian waited until the final player had arrived before leaving the room himself as he insisted it was his playing staff who should find a solution to their woes.

With players convinced it was the defensive tactics that were responsible for the poor form, senior players reported back, leading to a run of five wins in their next six domestic matches as the shackles were loosened.

Tottenham were regularly accused of making a slow start in matches under Conte, while others suggested that his players looked ‘tired’ or ‘leggy’ throughput.

According to the Daily Mail, this could have been down to his insistence that the players ran 2km before each match.

Conte also had a habit of moving the scheduled start times of training sessions, moving their session post-Sporting Lisbon away from 2pm to 11am, a decision that didn’t go down well given that they’d only arrived back in the UK that morning.

While players didn’t enjoy this, it’s stated that they didn’t complain about it to the manager, something that was another factor in that breakdown of a relationship between players and management.
