Lewandowski, the Bayern Munich forward, is said to be Chelsea’s no.1 target for the summer transfer window. He is considering his future in the Bundesliga, and is believed to be ready to end his spell in Germany after eight years. Alvaro Morata has not covered himself in glory since his summer transfer to Stamford Bridge, and Olivier Giroud is seen as no more than a short-term backup option, so bringing a world class centre-forward to Stamford Bridge this summer is a priority.

Travelling Liverpool fans were caught up in trouble ahead of Saturday’s showdown against Real Madrid , after being apparently attacked in a restaurant. The Daily Mirror published a video of violent scenes, claiming a group of Reds supporters were attacked by a 'gang on masked hooligans'.
