Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will be without his trusted assistant Zeljko Buvac for the remainder of the season.
The Bosnian coach, who has been Klopp's right-hand man for the past 17 years, is to take a leave of absence due to personal reasons.
Reports emerged late on Sunday that Buvac had sensationally quit the club two days before their Champions League semi-final second leg clash with Roma following a bust-up with the Reds manager.
Liverpool have now confirmed Buvac will spend some time away from the club, but deny suggestions he has quit.
The club insist he remains a Liverpool employee and his position at the club is not affected by this absence.
Buvan has been Jurgen Klopp's right-hand man for the past 17 years, the pair having stuck a close friendship in their playing days.
The pair enjoyed success at Mainz and Borussia Dortmund before moving to Liverpool in 2015 and have taken the Reds to the brink of the Champions League final.
Buvac has been branded 'the brain' by Klopp due to his tactical expertise and his influence on the high-octane style of play favoured by the Reds manager.
