Tottenham will need to fight off competition from Juventus if they want to sign Ajax star Matthijs de Ligt.

The 18-year-old is on Spurs’ radar this summer after impressing their scouts over the past six months.

Tottenham want to sign a new centre-back and they believe the Dutchman could be the perfect signing.

Juventus, however, are fans of De Light too and – according to TMW – they are ready to go toe to toe with Spurs for him.

The Italian champions have been tracking the youngster over the past year and believe he could make the grade in Serie A.

Ajax are trying to persuade De Ligt to stay for at least one more year, but it is reported they would accept an offer in excess of £35million.
