Thai cave boys adopt saffron robes of Buddhist novices to honor dead rescuer
By Patpicha Tanakasempipat BANGKOK (Reuters) - Eleven boys from a soccer team rescued from a flooded Thai cave in a drama that gripped global audiences were ordained as Buddhist novices on Wednesday in memory of a volunteer diver who died during their rescue. "Their lives will change now," Manit Prakobkit, an official of a regional cultural group, told media. "This experience will help them to appreciate their parents and give them a taste of Dhamma." The group will spend nine days living at another Buddhist temple, adhering to the teachings and precepts of Buddhism, Thailand's main religion.
