Reynald Pedros has a gift for football. A talented player in his day, the former France midfielder had spells with Nantes, Olympique Marseille and Napoli in a playing career that ran from 1990 to 2004, since when he has shown his innate understanding of the game in his first coaching job.

Following Manchester City’s defeat at Newcastle last night, the Reds could have put themselves in a commanding position at the summit and got off to the perfect start when Sadio Mane gave Liverpool the lead after just two minutes. But the Reds were lacklustre and let Leicester back in it when Harry Maguire took advantage of some slack defending to equalise just before the break. Travelling Liverpool fans were caught up in trouble ahead of Saturday’s showdown against Real Madrid , after being apparently attacked in a restaurant. The Daily Mirror published a video of violent scenes, claiming a group of Reds supporters were attacked by a 'gang on masked hooligans'.
