Cardiff City’s new striker Emiliano Sala was on board a light aircraft that disappeared en route to the Welsh capital where he was to join up with the English Premier League team, France’s civil aviation authority says.

Following Manchester City’s defeat at Newcastle last night, the Reds could have put themselves in a commanding position at the summit and got off to the perfect start when Sadio Mane gave Liverpool the lead after just two minutes. But the Reds were lacklustre and let Leicester back in it when Harry Maguire took advantage of some slack defending to equalise just before the break.
