Plizzari thriving in spotlight for Italy

With their place in the last 16 already secure, Italy are under no pressure when they take on Japan on Wednesday, thanks in no small part to their goalkeeper Alessandro Plizzari.

Following Manchester City’s defeat at Newcastle last night, the Reds could have put themselves in a commanding position at the summit and got off to the perfect start when Sadio Mane gave Liverpool the lead after just two minutes. But the Reds were lacklustre and let Leicester back in it when Harry Maguire took advantage of some slack defending to equalise just before the break. Travelling Liverpool fans were caught up in trouble ahead of Saturday’s showdown against Real Madrid , after being apparently attacked in a restaurant. The Daily Mirror published a video of violent scenes, claiming a group of Reds supporters were attacked by a 'gang on masked hooligans'.
