Jose Mourinho and Arsenal have been described as ‘the perfect fit’ amid speculation linking ‘the Special One’ with a return to management at the Emirates Stadium.

Mourinho has been out of work since being sacked by Manchester United in December 2018, but revealed last month he was ready for a return to management.

The Portuguese – who has worked regularly as a pundit in recent months – has apparently rejected plenty of offers, including from Ligue 1 club Lyon, while he is said to be ‘in regular contact’ with Borussia Dortmund.

But reports this week have linked the former Chelsea and United boss with a return to the Premier League, with The Sun claiming Mourinho is keen to set a management record by winning major trophies with THREE different English clubs.

And, with pressure piling on Unai Emery, Mourinho is now one of the favourites to be the next Arsenal boss.

Odds on him replacing Emery at the Emirates have even been slashed from 16/1 down to 4/1 by online bookmakers SportNation.

And former Premier League striker Clinton Morrison believes bringing in Mourinho would be a masterstroke by Arsenal, saying the ‘tactical genius’ can bring the good times back to north London.

“Mourinho is a brilliant manager,” the talkSPORT pundit told Jim White.

“Maybe not with his handling of players and man-management, but if you wanted to set up a team to win a game and win trophies, he’s tactical genius.

“He’s done it so many times where he’s been the underdog and his teams have gone and won loads of stuff. He’s a superb manager.

Adrian Durham says Arsenal should ditch Unai Emery... and hire Jose Mourinho

“Can he manage a team like Tottenham or Arsenal and get the best out of those players?

“I think Arsenal would be a perfect fit. They have loads of good players, but there’s not really any leadership.

“When I look at the manager [Unai Emery] I don’t see him being a person who puts his football down, who the players will listen to.

“Whereas Jose, he’ll tell you something and you’ll instantly listen because of what he’s won and what he’s done in the game.

“He will be back in football.”
