‘Arsenal fans live in La La Land’ – Simon Jordan rips into Gunners supporters over treatment of Granit Xhaka
Simon Jordan has claimed Arsenal fans have a false sense of entitlement following their treatment of captain Granit Xhaka on Sunday.
The Gunners midfielder reacted furiously to being booed off by large sections of the Emirates faithful during the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace.
And while many have condemned Xhaka’s response, in which he cupped his ear and swore at fans, the supporters have also been criticised for their treatment of one of their own.
And former Palace chairman Jordan believes the attitude of some Arsenal fans stems from unrealistic expectations.
The talkSPORT host said: “Arsenal are suffering from a situation which is that they cannot compete with clubs like Manchester City and they cannot compete with Liverpool.
“They’re being judged by those standards now because they were once there.
“If you close your eyes and really think about what Arsenal are, what they’re spending and how they’re investing their money, I think Arsenal fans are living in La La Land now.
“Just because they had it ten/fifteen years ago, doesn’t mean they’re entitled to it now.
“When they talk about flakiness, some of their fans are flaky.
“Every time Arsenal play, this switchboard lights up like a pinball machine. It’s like watching something from Tommy.
“Arsenal fans and Arsenal Fan TV seem to take the most delight from being as vitriolic and as damning of their side, when five days ago they could’ve been third in the league.
“There is an element and a section of Arsenal fans that are equally as flaky as those players on the pitch.”
