Jose Mourinho wants Premier League return and would be keen on Arsenal job as pressure mounts on Unai Emery
Jose Mourinho is keen on a return to the Premier League and would reportedly be open to taking over at Arsenal if the role became available.
Unai Emery is under increasing pressure in north London and Arsenal’s latest result saw them squander a two-goal lead at home to Crystal Palace, drawing 2-2.
That followed on from a shock 1-0 defeat to Sheffield United , which was their 10th loss in 24 Premier League away games under Emery.
There has also been criticism at the way he has dealt with Mesut Ozil, after freezing the German out, and the lack of support shown to Granit Xhaka, who was booed off by his own fans on Sunday.
The Spaniard reportedly has a clause in his three-year contract which can allow the club to sack him at the end of the current season.
Mourinho, the former Chelsea and Manchester United boss, is currently working as a pundit on Sky Sports, but the appeal of returning to management is still on his agenda.
He has been out of work since December 2018 after being dismissed from Old Trafford following a difficult third season in charge of the Red Devils and has since been linked with Borussia Dortmund and Lyon.
The 56-year-old was at the Emirates to watch Arsenal’s less than convincing 3-2 win over Portuguese side Vitoria Guimaraes in the Europa League last Thursday.
And according to ESPN, Mourinho would be tempted to add to his legacy of three Premier League titles, all with Chelsea, and would relish the chance to give the Gunners their first top-flight trophy since 2004.
