The January transfer window is nearly shut and the Premier League teams have just a few hours left to conduct their mid-season spending.

The 2019 summer market saw the top-flight’s clubs splash the cash with a host of big-money deals done.

The likes of Manchester United, Tottenham, Liverpool and Arsenal have landed new recruits this month but there’s still time to spend more.

January transfer window: When does it close?

Having opened on January 1, the window in England will close at 11pm on Friday, January 31.

That is the same for Premier League and EFL clubs throughout the four top divisions.

Clubs completing deals late on deadline day will be able to submit a deal sheet between 9pm and 11pm.

Clubs will have until midnight on deadline day to complete the information needed by FIFA’s Transfer Matching System to apply for international clearance for new signings.

What is a deal sheet?

Clubs sometimes conclude deals at the last minute and it is not always easy for them to get everything completed and sent over by the deadline.

The deal sheet allows a club to confirm that a deal has been reached in order to allow for additional time to submit the remaining documentation.

What about other leagues around the world?

France, Germany, Italy and Spain’s deadline day is also on January 31.

In France and Spain, the window closes at the same time as in the UK – 11pm. Germany’s deadline is 5pm, with Italy closing at 7pm.

Portuguese clubs can make signings up until February 2, Russia up until February 21 and China up until February 27.
