Ademola Lookman scores and pays tribute to Papa Bouba Diop as Fulham end penalty hoodoo with win at Leicester
Ademola Lookman paid tribute to Papa Bouba Diop as he scored in Fulham’s shock 2-1 win at Leicester on Monday.
The 23-year-old opened the scoring for Scott Parker’s side in the 30th minute and went straight to the sidelines to hold up Diop’s Senegal shirt.
The former Fulham midfielder, who played for the club between 2004 and 2007, died at the age of 42 on the weekend after a long battle with illness.
The Cottagers were then awarded a penalty after Simon Hooper was advised by VAR to check his pitchside monitor for Christian Fuchs’ foul on Bobby Decordova-Reid.
Lookman, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Ivan Cavaleiro had already missed from the spot this season, however, the latter converted from 12 yards to double Fulham’s lead before the break.
Harvey Barnes pulled a goal back for Leicester in the 86th minute, but it was not enough to prevent back-to-back Premier League defeats for Brendan Rodgers’ men.
