Manchester United have ‘ALREADY WON’ Europa League as Arsenal and Villarreal ‘can’t stop juggernaut’ and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer makes critics eat their words
Manchester United have been prematurely crowned as Europa League champions by talkSPORT host Andy Goldstein following Thursday night’s events.
The Red Devils delivered a sensational display to beat Roma 6-2 and only a second-leg miracle will stop Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men reaching the final.
In the other semi-final, ten-man Arsenal were beaten 2-1 by former manager Unai Emery’s Villarreal, who also ended the game with ten men.
The Gunners were let off the hook and kept themselves in the tie by grabbing an away goal despite being two goals and a man down at one point.
But whoever progresses to the final will have no chance against United on the basis of Thursday night, according to Red Devils fan Goldstein.
“I’ve only got positive things to say about Manchester United,” said the Sports Bar host.
“Even when we went 2-1 down, I was quite calm.
“I said, ‘Don’t worry, we’ll still win this’. Twenty shots, Pogba was brilliant, Bruno was brilliant, Cavani was different class.
“One to 11, it was a fantastic performance from United, who now not only in the final of the Europa League, but tonight they’ve won the Europa League.
“From what I saw in the other match, Villarreal beating Arsenal, it wasn’t the best match, both teams were quite poor.
“Neither side can stop the juggernaut that is Man United. The way United played tonight, none of those teams can live with them.”
Goldstein also believes Solskjaer will prove his critics wrong by winning the Europa League and finishing second in the Premier League when many expected the Norwegian to be sacked this season, including Sports Bar co-host Jason Cundy.
“Tonight is the night when everyone who criticised Solskjaer and said he would be sacked before the end of the season will eat their words,” Goldstein added.
“When United win the Europa League, and they will win it, and finish second in the Premier League – United would’ve had a better season than Jurgen Klopp, Mikel Arteta, Brendan Rodgers, Jose Mourinho, Frank Lampard, Carlo Ancelotti.”
