It’s been a miserable season for Liverpool but this video shows fans there’s some hope for the future.

Liverpool are on the verge of losing their status as Premier League champions with Manchester City romping to the title.

But it’s been very clear for a long time that Jurgen Klopp’s men wouldn’t be retaining their crown in a season where everything that could have gone wrong has gone wrong.

Injuries have been one of the main thorns in their side, especially in defence.

The bad luck started when Virgil van Dijk sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury as he was on the wrong end of a wild Jordan Pickford challenge during gameweek five.

Van Dijk’s season was over after that and Liverpool have suffered hugely in his absence as even finishing in the top four is beginning to look like a pipe dream.

However, Liverpool fans’ dreams of seeing the Dutchman playing again appear to be getting closer, with Van Dijk posting a video of him running in the club’s Kirkby training ground.

As mentioned, he’s not the only Liverpool defender being given a lengthy absence.

A month after Van Dijk’s injury, Joe Gomez sustained a knee injury on international duty while Joel Matip has been out since January with an ankle ligament injury.

It means Klopp has been forced to chop and change at the back with midfielder Fabinho having to play in defence numerous times this term, alongside either Nat Phillips or Ozan Kabak.
