Liverpool have reportedly made an enquiry about the availability of France and Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe.

The forward has long been linked with a new deal at the Parc des Princes but the contract has not materialised as quickly as many thought it would.

In an interview with L’Equipe recently, club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi said: “I will be very clear: Kylian Mbappe is going to stay at PSG, we will never sell him, and he will never leave for free.”

However, despite the comments and previous suggestions a new deal on the way, the 22-year-old doesn’t seem to be any closer to it.

Mbappe currently has only one year remaining on his contract, emboldening the likes of Liverpool who are intrigued about the possibility of signing the talented forward.

When asked earlier this month whether he was planning on staying at PSG next term, Mbappe replied: “I think the most important thing is to enjoy the moment right now.”

According to Marca, Liverpool’s enquiry is more in hope than out of an expectation a deal may be possible.

Meanwhile, for them to actually purchase the player they would need to sell before the could afford him.

Mbappe was signed by Paris Saint-Germain in 2018 for a £163million fee, making him the second most expensive player ever, behind teammate Neymar (£198m).

Marca suggest Liverpool could attempt to swap either Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane to help finance the move, however it remains unlikely.

Meanwhile, it remains the case the player’s first choice, should he ever move on from PSG, would be Real Madrid.
