It’s not clear which club has had the best January transfer window. It’s clear who’s won the prize for announcement videos though.

Burnley’s media team were in very creative mood as the club revealed they had completed the signing of Wout Weghorst, who joins from Wolfsburg on a three-and-a-half year deal.

A players who could well be an upgrade on Chris Wood, who was sold to Newcastle for £20million, having hit 20 Bundesliga goals last term.

Whether the Dutch striker will be a success and can help the Clarets avoid relegation remains to be seen but there’s no disputing the announcement video is the best one of the January 2022 window.

An iconic scene from the Hollywood blockbuster Jurassic Park was used to announce the Weghorst deal.

In it, the Tyrannosaurus Rex that greeted a petrified Lex and Tim Murphy in the car has been replaced by the 29-year-old ‘roaring’ at the camera.

Weghorst arrives at Turf Moor in the nick of time, for just £12m, with Burnley a striker short after selling Wood to relegation rivals Newcastle.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche said: “Wout is a player that our scouts have been strong on for some time and we feel that he can add to all that we do at Burnley Football Club.

“His signing is a continued show of the club’s and team’s development. We wish Wout well as he earns the right to push our group forwards.”

Chairman Alan Pace added: “I’d like to wish Wout a very warm welcome to Burnley Football Club.

“We’re absolutely delighted to have brought in a great talent with a fantastic goal-scoring pedigree in Germany. I look forward to him joining up with Sean and the team.

“January is a famously difficult window, as we all know. I am however delighted that a lot of hard work by everyone involved has paid off.”
