Ronaldinho would be worth £300million if he were playing today, believes Darren Bent, who values Brazillian superstar higher than Arsenal heroes Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp
There are not many things that Darren Bent loves more than Arsenal.
But one of them is Brazillian legend Ronaldinho – who he believes would be worth a record-breaking £300million in today’s market.
Bent and his co-host Andy Goldstein continued a chat that took place on talkSPORT Drive on Tuesday, where they discussed how much legendary football figures would be worth in today’s market.
And Bent, who has proclaimed his love for Ronaldinho before on talkSPORT – stating that the midfielder was his favourite player of all time – insists that he would be worth an extortionate amount in today’s market.
“£300million, minimum,” Bent replied when asked about how much he’d value the ex-Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan man.
“Any football fan out there can’t look at clips of him or watch him play, if you had the honour of watching him play, and not just smile,” he added.
The talk then moved to another of Bent’s favourite players – Thierry Henry.
And despite being a huge Arsenal fan, Bent insists that Ronaldinho’s valuation would still dwarf the likes of Henry if they were playing in the current era.
When asked about the former Gunners forward’s value, Bent said: “£200m, maybe? Well, he’s the greatest player to have ever played in the Premier League.
“So maybe a bit more than that.”
Henry’s former teammate Dennis Bergkamp was next.
“£180m,” Bent said.
But Goldstein clearly didn’t agree, struggling to understand the reasoning behind Bent’s valuation of the Dutchman.
“Dennis Bergkamp, £180m?! I don’t see that. That’s nuts money,” the co-host responded.
“I think you rate him a little bit too highly. His numbers were awful!”
Former Arsenal players became a theme for this topic of conversation, as Bent was then asked about Ian Wright, who some Gunners fans believe is their greatest striker of all time.
“Ooo, £100m? No, £120m I reckon for Wrighty,” Bent decided.
Goldstein joking valued Bent at £50m on Tuesday’s show, which the former Premier League striker laughed off.
So the question is: would you rather have one Ronaldinho or six Darren Bents?
