In the Premier League matches against Manchester United and Everton, he made one save in each game as the club won 4-0 and 2-0 respectively.

And against Villarreal in the Champions League semi-final, he made none as the Reds stormed to an easy 2-0 win.

It helps that in front of him he has Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate – the latter has never actually lost when he has played for Liverpool.

Signed from RB Leipzig for £36million in 2021, the centre-back has played 23 games and won 18 of them.

The Reds kept their quadruple dream alive against Villarreal where an own goal from Pervis Estupinan followed by a Sadio Mane strike put them in control ahead of the second leg.

“We know we go there and it will be a tricky atmosphere for us and different from tonight,” manager Jurgen Klopp said.

“Their players, you saw it tonight, they fight with all they have and what I like [is] that everybody could see that we fought with all we have. It’s always the same.”
