Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea admits that he’s felt ’embarrassed’ by Red Devils’ poor season
Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea admits that he’s felt ’embarrassed’ at times this season, after a poor campaign for the Red Devils.
United currently sit sixth in the Premier League and were knocked out of the FA Cup in the fourth round, the Carabao Cup in the third round, and the Champions League in the round of 16.
The club’s former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked in November having spent £125million in the summer – which included the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Interim boss Ralf Rangnick has also failed to get a tune of the United squad, which has left them without anything to play for again this season.
De Gea has seen it all at Old Trafford, having been part of the squad that won the Premier League in Sir Alex Ferguson’s final season in Manchester.
And the Spanish goalkeeper admits that things need to change after a ‘painful’ season.
“Yeah, it’s tough,” De Gea told Sky Sports. “For me, it’s very tough.
“I’ve been here many years and being out there on the pitch, I’ve been feeling down, it’s too painful for me.
“I feel embarrassed, sometimes I feel… it’s difficult to say, but I feel horrible on the pitch.
“This is why we have to change this mindset, do more and do more, and try to win games and be there in the top positions.”
