Real Madrid ‘interested’ in signing Chelsea and England defender Reece James after superb performance in Champions League clash between teams
Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea and England right-back Reece James.
The Spanish giants are said to be one of a host of top European clubs that have approached the full-back, who has been fantastic since returning from injury earlier this season.
Goal are reporting that Real will look to sign the right-sided defender in the summer of 2023 – but their current priority is securing the services of Kylian Mbappe from PSG at the end of the season.
And they look to have already agreed a move for James’ Blues teammate Antonio Rudiger this summer.
The report goes on to say that despite being one of the west Londoners’ key players, James – whose contract expires in 2025 – is not one of the club’s highest earners.
James swapped shirts with Real Madrid superstar Karim Benzema after their thrilling Champions League clash a few weeks ago.
Benzema was seen in a clip asking the England defender for his shirt after Madrid won 5-4 on aggregate in extra-time.
There were no words exchanged when they swapped shirts, but perhaps the gesture was a little sweetener to try and persuade James to make the move to the Bernabeu…
