Sadio Mane has decided to leave Liverpool this summer with Bayern Munich ‘strong contenders’ to sign him, it has been reported.

There’s been a tug of war for the Senegal forward, with Bayern understood to be trying to prise him away, while Liverpool are keen to offer him a new deal.

The 30-year-old remained tight-lipped on his future ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League final date with Real Madrid.

Neither the player, nor Liverpool have provided any concrete update on what’s next for Mane since, however, it’s looking like he may have made his last appearance for the Reds.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says Mane has ‘decided to leave Liverpool this summer’ as he’s ‘ready for a new experience.’

Romano adds that German champions Bayern are ‘strong contenders’ to sign Mane but the deal is ‘still open’.

The PA news agency reports Liverpool won’t let their player leave for less than £25million.

The report adds that the move won’t happen until Jurgen Klopp has found a replacement for his player.

Mane couldn’t help Liverpool to their seventh Champions League. He had an effort well saved by Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois in the first half at the Stade de France

Mane has had an excellent career at Liverpool since joining from Southampton in 2016 in a £34million deal.

He’s won every major trophy for the Reds, including the FA and Carabao Cup double this term, while also winning the UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup.

If Mane has made his final appearance for Liverpool he’ll leave having netted 120 goals in 269 appearances for the club.

As well as winning two trophies for his club, Mane has had a memorable year having helped Senegal to Africa Cup of Nations glory and the 2022 World Cup, netting the winning penalty in both the final and play-off triumph.

Ahead of the Champions League final, which Liverpool lost, Jurgen Klopp questioned the timing of Bayern’s approach for his player having fallen victim of their advances when Bayern signed Mario Gotze from Borussia Dortmund.

He said: “The Bayern Munich rumours I couldn’t care less in the moment, we are all fully focussed on the game, Sadio is completely focused on the game.

“He knows how important it is to him, how important it is to us, so no concerns, completely normal.

“It’s not the first time in my career that before decisive games Bayern Munich rumours coming up, don’t know why, exactly what I did, why that happens, but no problem at all.”
