Wilfried Zaha underlined his importance to Crystal Palace once again with a moment of ‘pure class’ – the Ivorian scoring a stunning goal in their 1-1 draw to Brentford.

The Eagles forward collected the ball on the left, dropped his shoulder before beautifully curling the ball into the top corner just shy of the hour mark.

Reacting to the goal, Alvin Martin said on commentary for talkSPORT: “It doesn’t get any classier than that, that is unbelievable… no goalkeeper in the world, believe me, is going to stop this. Pure class, top corner.”

It was a goal worthy of winning any match but Palace couldn’t hold on for the three points at Selhurst Park with Yoane Wissa getting an 88th-minute equaliser for the Bees.

And Martin added that Zaha‘s brilliance, plus Palace’s inability to see things out, highlights a worrying problem for them.

“Where would they find the goals without Zaha?” Martin continued. “Conor Gallagher weighed in with quite a few. Now he’s back at Chelsea they’ve only got Zaha and that is the problem with Vieira’s side, it really is.

“They haven’t got a centre forward, who’s capable of getting 12-15 goals so all the responsibility is resting on Zaha’s shoulders.”

Zaha, who’s in the final year of his Palace contract, has been linked with a move to Chelsea as the deadline on the summer transfer window looms.

But Patrick Vieira poured cold water on any suggestion that Zaha won’t be a Palace player after Thursday’s deadline.

Asked whether Zaha will still be a Palace player, Vieira said: “I don’t have any doubt on that.”

“There’s always a question about Wilfried. Me as a manager, I just see the smile on his face and when he scored that goal he didn’t look like a player who wants to leave.

“He’s happy to wear the Palace jersey, the smile on his face and he complains like he always does! But this is Wilfried and he loves being here, the fans love him.”

“There’s no question in my mind.”
