That deal has moved a step closer with journalist Fabrizio Romano revealing Chelsea have agreed a fee with RB Leipzig for the player.

The fee attached to the deal is more than £52million with the structure of the transfer also agreed to ensure that payments are easier to make.

Romano reports that Nkunku has already completed a medical and will sign a long-term contract that will begin in June 2023.

It’s been an impressive season for the 25-year-old, having scored 17 goals in 23 appearances for RB Leipzig this term.

Unfortunately for Nkunku, the forward missed out on a spot in France’s World Cup squad as a result of an ankle ligament injury picked up just days before the competition got underway.

As a result, the Bundesliga player of the year is set to be out until the New Year at the earliest and may even require surgery on the injury.
