Arsenal hero Perry Groves tells Tottenham star Harry Kane to get out ‘as quickly as possible’ as Liverpool beat Spurs at Anfield
Harry Kane has been told he must leave Tottenham ‘as quickly as possible’ with the club in turmoil on and off the pitch.
Spurs capitulated early on yet again away at Liverpool as the Reds raced into a 3-0 lead inside the opening 15 minutes in their eventual 4-3 win.
After conceding five goals in 21 minutes at Newcastle last week, while shipping in two early goals against Manchester United in midweek, Spurs‘ defensive frailties were on show yet again.
Strikes from Curtis Jones, Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah had fans heading for the exit at Anfield.
Fans chanted in unison, ‘we want out money back’, after travelling supporters at St James’ Park were refunded for the price of their ticket by the Spurs players.
Shortly before the break, Kane fired one back for the north Londoners – his 25th Premier League goal of the season.
But Arsenal legend Perry Groves has urged the player to finally move on in search of silverware.
Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “Just on Harry Kane, if he doesn’t leave Spurs now, it will then compound the fact that he’s comfortable where he is, where he wants to be the main man and the big fish.
“Because you should be getting out of that place as quickly as possible to try and test yourself at a higher level where you’re in the Champions League, where you’re going to win trophies.
“And maybe you’re not the main man, maybe you’re one of a few main men, but you’ve got to take yourself out of that comfort zone.
“There’s no way Harry Kane should be staying.”
Kane is facing an uncertain future at Tottenham with his contract to expire in 2024, with reports claiming he is willing to run his deal down to leave on a free transfer.
But talkSPORT host Sam Matterface has suggested he should become a player-manager for his beloved Spurs if he decides to stay on.
He stated: “Harry Kane should become the manager, he might as well.
“If [caretaker boss] Ryan Mason is doing it at the age of 31, why can’t Harry Kane?
“If he is going to stay there, he might as well double up, it sounded like he was calling the shots last week anyway.”
