Pep Guardiola explains why Kevin De Bruyne missed Man City’s Premier League clash with Fulham
Pep Guardiola admitted that Kevin De Bruyne ‘did not feel good’ as he missed Man City’s Premier League clash against Fulham.
The 31-year-old was the notable absentee from the squad that travelled to Craven Cottage on Sunday.
City fans were immediately concerned about why one of their star men was missing, especially with important games on the horizon.
When asked why he was not playing, Guardiola told Sky Sports: “He doesn’t feel good, he has some injury and could not travel.”
De Bruyne has seven goals and 16 assists in the Premier League this season as they chase yet another title.
The playmaker starred against Arsenal on Wednesday with two goals in the 4-1 demolition of their title rivals.
That gave City a huge advantage in the race for the trophy, putting them just two points behind with two games in hand before their trip to Fulham.
De Bruyne himself is chasing a fifth Premier League title in his eighth season with City.
He signed from Wolfsburg in August 2015 for a then club record fee of £55million.
Fans will hope for good news on his injury in the coming days as the club continue to chase the treble.
They face Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final in May, while also have the FA Cup final to look forward to in June against Manchester United.
