Ruben Dias has described Wolves as a team that 'just stays there' after Manchester City's defeat at Molineux.

The Portuguese defender conceded an own-goal in his side's 2-1 loss, putting Wolves 1-0 up in the 13th minute as he slid in to make a block on Neto's cross.

Despite Man City's lack of clear cut chances in the clash, Dias appears to have hit out at Wolves' tactics in his post-match interview with talkSPORT.

"Well it's never easy when you play against a team that just stays there and it's difficult to get in," Dias said when asked about where he thinks his side went wrong.

"Obviously, we've won many games in similar circumstances. It's no excuse, obviously, we have to do better, but today we couldn't take it."

When asked about the own goal, he said: "Well, it is what it is, it's football.

"I tried to occupy the space between me and the keeper and the pass back as well, the ball ends up going over [Ederson]. That's football."

"When a game is like this, it's just the way it is, you know," he continued. "We need to be clinical, but when we score a goal, the game changes, it becomes easier.

"But yeah, the difficult job is defensive work. The one thing in our minds is unfortunately we will have loads of games like this in which they will just stay at the back and we just need to be more efficient on how to get in."

Man City had eight shots on target compared to Wolves' one, Hwang Hee-chan cancelling out Julian Alvarez's equaliser to seal all three points.

Pep Guardiola's side were still without Rodri, who is currently serving a suspension after his sending off against Nottingham Forest.

Since he made his Premier League debut in August 2019, Man City have lost five of 15 matches without the Spaniard in the competition, winning nine and drawing once.

By contrast, Man City have lost just five of their last 67 league games when Rodri has featured, winning 53 and drawing nine.
