Dejan Kulusevski gives away penalty at Brighton for shirt pull after avoiding punishment for same thing in Tottenham’s win over Everton
Dejan Kulusevski's shirt pull on Danny Welbeck saw Tottenham concede a penalty at Brighton in what was a torrid trip to the south coast.
But whilst Seagulls fans were cheering VAR's decision to award them a spot-kick to put them 2-0 up inside half an hour of the clash, Everton fans over 200 miles away were left confused.
Welbeck tried to battle for the ball in the box, but Kulusevski recklessly decided to cling on to the Brighton star's shirt, leading VAR to intervene and give the home side a penalty.
Joao Pedro went on to score his seventh penalty in as many spot-kicks to double his side's advantage, whilst Kulusevski picked up his fifth yellow card of the season.
That means he'll miss Spurs' clash against Bournemouth on New Year's Eve.
However, away from the drama at the AMEX, Everton fans have been left asking why Kulusevski wasn't punished for a shirt pull on Amadou Onana in the penalty area in Spurs' 2-1 win over the Toffees on December 23.

"Kulusevski got away with it against Everton but not against Brighton," one wrote on X.
"That's the 2nd time Kulusevski has done that in a week. Everton got robbed," a second said.
A third added: "Dejan Kulusevski got away with a pull like that against Everton at the weekend, not going to be so lucky there, atrocious decision making finally costs him."
The Swede was booked in that tie, but for time-wasting in the closing stages as opposed to being punished for the shirt pull.

Kulusevski has been a key cog in Ange Postecoglou's side this season, scoring five goals and providing two assists in 18 league games.
Now, though, Spurs will be without him for their next fixture as they deal with an already lengthy list of absentees.
Brighton took the lead early on through Jack Hinshelwood in the eleventh minute, with the Seagulls star finding the net following some fancy footwork across the box from Pedro.
Pervis Estupinan stunned the AMEX as he fired in a long-range effort to put his side 3-0 up, before Pedro netted his second of the night from the spot once again to put Brighton four goals to the good.
Alejo Veliz and Ben Davies netted late on for Spurs, but the Seagulls saw out a 4-2 win to go eighth in the table.
