Ivan Toney took just 19 minutes to find the back of the net on his first match back in the Brentford side.

The striker served an eight-match ban for betting offences and was thrust straight back into the limelight by being named captain for the 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest.

While Forest fans chanted "Toney, what's the score?" after Danilo's early opener, it didn't take long for the striker to truly re-announce his arrival.

After Brentford won a free-kick, Toney stood over the ball around 20 yards from goal and managed to sneak a free-kick around the wall and into the bottom corner of Matt Turner's net.

It was the third free-kick that Toney has scored in the Premier League since the summer of 2023.

That's the joint-most of any player in the top flight - joint with James Ward-Prowse - however Toney's three strikes come from just 10 attempts, while the West Ham star's come from 25.

The home supporters were jubilant as Toney celebrated with the fans, before heading to the bench to embrace Thomas Frank and his backroom team.

As he wheeled away in celebration, he gestured he would be staying at Brentford by pointing to his chest and then to the pitch.

He then held aloft a shirt that read the message: "Thank you Uncle Brian."

Toney's goal was followed up in the second half by a Ben Mee effort that made it 2-1 to the Bees.

Neal Maupay then fired the hosts back in front in what was a mad few minutes in west London.

Barry Fry jokes that he rings Brentford every day to ask about Ivan Toney transfer news and says it would be like 'winning the lottery' for Peterborough

VAR checked the goal for a possible handball, but replays clearly showed the ball had struck his chest.

Brentford held on for the victory to claim the vital three points to ensure a memorable night for Bees fans.
